I remember reading glorified accounts of Edison's accomplishments. He'd always have a blurb alongside George Washington Carver and Ben Franklin as true patriot heroes. And while we learned the differences between AC and DC, Tesla was all but missing from class readings and teachings. I confirmed this with others who went to my school at the same time (we're talking 20ish years ago), and I just spoke to a guy 20 years older than me who had the same experience (in a different state). Was it propaganda? American exceptionalism?
